I hope someone here can help me get my project back :( (corrupt .als)

I was working on a project that kept crashing when routing env 1 to the pitch in NI Massive. After I got it working again, I made a backup (save as - new file name) and continued working. eventually, I closed Ableton to do something else and when I try to open either the original or the backup I get an error:

.Als is corrupt (Slot Count Mismatch)

Any ideas? Any Help? Please. Thank you for looking.
