We Need Permanent Light Sources For Our Bases.
While playing the story mode I feel in love with home warm and cozy the Trapper's Cabin felt. This way mostly due to the fire that is constantly burning inside. In survival a permanent fire would be game breakingly powerful but I wish there was a way to light our bases that didn't consume resources.
I'm currently in the Coastal Highway region and my base is the Quonset Garage right in the middle. At night the garage is nearly pitch black and while I can navigate around, it just looks ugly inside. I don't want to waste lantern fuel to have a lantern that burns for maybe 10 real life minutes or waste wood on the fire barrel if I'm not trying to actually cook anything.
So I propose candles that burn infinitely but provide no warmth or cooking benefits and are strictly for lighting bases. These candles only work indoors and can only be placed like an item and not equipped in the players hands. To keep the candles from being overpowered (they do provide light to read or craft by) they will take a fair bit of resources to craft.
CRAFTING REQUIREMENTS
Fish or Rabbit - 10 lbs. - The meat get cooked and then the fat is rendered into a thick lard that is used as the candle material.
Cloth - x5 - Five pieces of cloth are used to weave a thick wick similar to this.
Scrap Metal - x1 - The scrap metal is used to make the wick float seen in the wick image. This prevents the wick from sinking into the fat as it liquefies.
Canned Food - x1 80%+ Condition - A good condition can is used as the holder for the candle.
Final product would looks something like this.
So a bit of work goes into making these but once complete they give out the same amount of ambient light as a wood match and can be placed down on any surface like any other moveable item. Five or six of these will make any bases feel cozy inside as well as provide much needed light at night. They will burn indefinitely though and be a passive part of your home base.
One final thing to keep them from being overpowered, moving the candle once it is placed will spill the oil and you will need another ten pounds of rabbit or fish to refuel it.
What do you think of this idea? (Please fix console save deletion before implementing this!)
