Traveling to China with MF 120 Film?

I recently purchased a Mamiya 7 for a project that I am doing in Shanghai. I have read sources where people state there film gets ruined if its run through many X-ray machines. Has anyone flew to China with film specifically Shanghai? I am also considering getting there and buying it there but unsure where and how cost effective that will be or where to find it.. Since I am flying back with it anyway it still might get ruined. Any idea how you would go about accomplishing this? I know you can at SFO airport have them hand check the film. But I am worried about my quick stop in Vancouver and Shanghai PVG when arriving. Any insight is appreciated. I plan on shooting mostly Porta 400 and 800 for night.
