I feel happy, I feel stable, I feel 'normal'
I am 18 months, to the day into my recovery. I am now divorced from an abusive ex husband, no contact with my narc parents, very low contact with the rest of my family and living independently. I am no longer holding on, surviving by the skin of my teeth, living in constant hourly, looping flashbacks. After being agoraphobic for nearly a decade, I now have friends and connections. I am showing up for myself for the first time in my life. I finally know who I am and am embracing it. I can deal with problems and symptoms without going into crisis. I have days where the first, shitty, abusive and traumatic 29 years of my life don't even enter my head. I am no longer in that chaos and dysfunction. I am in gut wrenching therapy that drives me to reach to the very core of the trauma, pull it out and crucify it into oblivion. I am not controlled or validate myself against anyone else's thoughts of me. I can see my worth. I am excited for my future. I don't hate myself, I sorta kinda love myself. I am thriving. You can recover from this, it can get better. I know I am not cured, I know I never will be. But stability is possible. Life without wanting death is possible. Anything is possible.
