Boston's role in medical development, esp. maternity hospitals?
I'm researching geographic areas that collectively played a significant role in advancing medicine. Seems that Boston's four main hospitals in the late 1800s fits the bill -- advancements in women's and children's medicine, allowing women doctors, etc. Is this accurate? Suggestions for further research?
