How to become Director of a childcare center?
Hi All! I just began my job as an assistant teacher. I purposely got this job in hopes of eventually becoming a director of a childcare center.
All I know is that most director positions want you to have some experience working in a classroom. I was wondering was there any other credentials needed to become a director or that look really good? (ex: Associates in ECE, Certificate, Masters, etc). Or is it just possible to work my way up from being an assistant teacher?
For reference, I have a B.A. in communications and I live in NJ (in case of any state credentials).
I was thinking of getting a master in some form of childcare administration or even going back to get an AA in ECE if I really needed it. I just don't want to waste time and money if I don't need it.
I'm just not sure how to move forward in this process I set up in my head, so please give me your advice!!!
