The flip side to Bostrom's argument...

Bostrom's argument has a flip side:

IF we are living in a simulation, what is the possibility that the simulation is being run by beings similar to us or descended from beings similar to us?

What basis is there for assuming anything about the universe running the simulation?

What possible universes containing beings capable of running a simulation as complete as the one we see around us would contain beings like us?

It seems to me that there are possible universes that support cheaper computation than ours... for example the one created by the Mimosa incident in Greg Egan's Schild's Ladder.

Edit: think of it as the computational analog of the anthropic principle.
