Compton w/XFCE, Fullscreen resolution not detected properly

I just got done with my first Arch Linux installation, and I'm really enjoying it so far, but I've run into this one problem that I cannot seem to solve. I switched my composite manager to Compton due to serious tearing while watching videos, and it completely solved the tearing issue. Unfortunately, when I plug in my TV, even though the desktop itself appears to stretch out to fill the entire screen, when I'm trying to fullscreen applications, they seem to think they're still constrained to 1366x768, instead of 1920x1080. Enabling xfwm's composite manager, disabling it, and then enabling compton again seems to fix this problem, but then when I unplug the TV, everything, including the desktop, still act as if they're plugged into a 1080 display until I repeat the process of enable xfwm/disable/enable compton.

I'm not sure which logs would be relevant to this issue, but I'll be happy to post anything you guys think would be helpful. Thanks!
