Typing on computer?

So I've got the Japanese language input installed. But I don't understand. Where is the kanji and where is the katakana?

All I can do is type kaku hana etc in hiragana, it's not effective at all. On my phone it even suggusts Kanji for me. How do I better set up my computer?
