Parking in Seattle

Hello everyone, my mom is driving in from afar to visit soon, and since I haven't owned or driven a car for many years since moving to the "big" city, I don't know anything about traffic rules in town. As long as it's outside of the designated parking zones, anyone can park on any street without restriction (bearing in mind any posted signs), right? Thanks in advance!
