So I'm a long time DM but I have never had the resources to run a full D&D campaign using minis. I play Descent 2e and have all the painted sets, but this is still hardly enough to support the diversity of an entire D&D campaign. I've been collecting and building miniature terrain for a long time, but could never justify the money or work (glueing & painting) that would go into having a large set of monster/character minis to match. That all changed recently when my good friend moved to NYC and could not take everything with him. He bequeathed me a GIGANTIC set of Icons of the Realms minis. This is more than enough to run multiple campaigns. I received them piled into three milk crates and took two days to organize them by type/race.
