Between 13.3"-16", +1, and Mid-range but under than 1,700. Please help a woman w/limited computer knowledge!

Valid Form
  • Total budget and country of purchase: United States. I do not have an overall budget in mind, but limit would be about 1,700. Wouldn't mind saving up more for a laptop that was worth it though.

  • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. I like the 2 in 1 form, but a good battery life is my biggest preference here.

  • How important is weight and thinness to you? Not very, I prefer my laptop on the thinner and lighter side but not at the expense of productivity/functionality.

  • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. I currently have a Mac, I do like it a lot but it is giving me a lot of problems and I am thinking about switching over to another OS.

  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Between 13.3" and 16". I like watching videos on my laptop, so a good screen for this.

  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Web design, video editing, photoshop, premiere pro, indesign, light gaming.

  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I am not a huge gamer, but I do like to play games like Portal, Bioshock, etc. from time to time.

  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Good keyboard, touch screen, optical drive doesn't matter to me (my current Mac doesn't have it so I have gotten used to not having one), reliable build quality, and a decently sized RAM (I read that 4GB is common, but if possible one higher than this?).

  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I am in University right now and am about to graduate into marketing. I need a reliable and fast laptop that will last me awhile. I would prefer average price, but am willing to save up for higher if it is worth it. I apologize for any answers that seem ambiguous or basic, as guys can probably tell I do not know that much about laptops or computer systems! Thank you!
