Fans of teams no longer in playoff contention, what keeps you watching?

For me, it is following the slowly developing young talent Oakland has on the field. They are highly inconsistent, make a bunch of errors and mental mistakes that cross the line of busch league defense. Plate discipline is also lacking along with terrible situational awareness. Aside from a very select few, the bullpen is a complete mess. Starting pitching has been hit and miss since all season.

However, for every 10 mistakes they make, this team can display 2 or 3 all-star quality performances/plays. Miss an easy flyball - make a tremendous diving catch. Go 0-5 with 4Ks - next game 3-4, 2HR, 5RBI.

With changes to some of the executive positions, most notably, the hiring of Dave Kaval, I have high hopes of putting together a team that can compete in 2019, possibly for the second wildcard next season.
