How long should "Sending incremental file list" generally take for rsync?

I'm syncing 50GB with a remote server, about 3000 files. rsync has just been saying this for the last fifteen or twenty minutes. Is this an unreasonable amount of time, worthy of investigation? Or just standard? When I sync smaller directories it's generally done in a few seconds.
