(Spoilers Extended) What does Book!Tyrion think of Show!Tyrion's plan?

In the books, as I recall, a similar plan to that proposed by Tyrion in the show was proposed in the books, and hands of one of the wights that attacked Jon and Alliser Thorne were brought down to King's Landing. Book!Tyrion made fun of this plan, which turned out to be in vain, as the hands rotted away.

How's Show!Tyrion not thinking about it for a second? Will a wight not rot away before reaching the capitol? Will it still be animated that far from the North? Can't the Night King just stop animating it? How can a dozen men capture a wight, secure it and have it chained, bring it back without having to deal with an army of 100 000 walking dead?

Most of all, why's anyone still listening to Show!Tyrion at this point?
