i finished fallout for the first time and have a few thoughts.

i was playing baldur's gate but had a desire to go back and finish the first fallout game because i had an uncompleted playthrough. before the break, i was trying hard to get as high of a reputation as possible, but afterwards i was much quicker to resort to murder. it kind of felt like the right thing to do in some situations.

i'm very happy to play an american rpg, and one of the things i've noticed was that the master believed racial diversity was a source of conflict and the solution was to have one race. this is very similar to the united nations' "replacement" plan to replace native europeans with migrants: http://www.un.org/esa/population/publications/migration/migration.htm and even has the same flaws: the replacements have low intelligence, are unattractive, are prone to violence, and can't sustain themselves. and as much as they talk about peace and unity, in my ending they killed the ghouls in ghoul city.

right now i'm not sure whether to go back to baldur's gate and finish it or start up fallout 2. i want to play all of the black isle games chronologically, which means fallout 2, but i don't like leaving games uncompleted, which means baldur's gate. i've played a lot of fallout 2 in the past and seen a lot of it except the ending, so this playthrough would probably be just to go right to the power armor, then the main mission.
