Question about slanted roofs

I recently unlocked the slanted roof in my SP game and went to redo the roof on my home but the roof wouldnt snap to the top of the wall. It would only snap to the side of the wall or my floor, cliping half way through.

Is there a special thing I have to do to use slanted roofs?
