Any of you have pain come years later? Or was there always pain with your Varicocele?
Have any of you had a varicocele, never experienced any pain - but then did start experiencing pain years later? Or has the pain always been there?
I ask because (thankfully) I've never had any pain with mine. I've had it for 13 years, and the only "pain" it ever gets is when I'm standing/walking all day long. It's very large (grade 3), but I've managed. I really don't want surgery (not a fan of anything hospital related, slight phobia).
I mainly just want to see if it's common to go years with no pain - but then to start developing pain later on in life.
My urologist has never pushed surgery because I have no pain, the testicle has not lost size, and I have 2 healthy kids. Only recommends it for comfort purposes.
EDIT: Another question - I know they can lower sperm quantity. But can varicocele's also alter the "quality" of sperm? Like, is there a chance some or all of my sperm could have incomplete DNA structure/information and lead to defects/issues in the growth of a child. My 2 children are healthy physically and mentally, no issues. This is just something I've wondered about.
