[NEWS] New Unity Government Formed In Ramallah

NEWS

RAMALLAH, PALESTINE - Reports out of the de facto Palestinian capital, within the disputed region of the West Bank, suggest that the two factions governing the State of Palestine, Fatah and Hamas, have formed another unified government after a period of separation.

The last unity government which reconciled Fatah and Hamas broke down in 2015 over the increasing power being shuffled towards President Mahmoud Abbas. Under this most recent agreement, Hamas has agreed to recognize Abbas as the legitimate President, and the elections scheduled for 2014, which had been delayed indefinitely, have been set for December of this year.

Only time will tell if this new alliance will advance the aims of the State of Palestine, after quarrelling and violent sectarian struggle repeatedly dashed the aspirations of Palestinians for the last couple of years.
