[S3E14] Much Ado About Tina
This is pure speculation as regards Audrey and the coma-dream reality theory that's been tossed around, but I noticed some further details that might feed into this. Just some stuff to chew on!
You know how sometimes when you dream and there's someone talking near by or you've left the TV on or whatever, those voices and the things they're saying can factor into what you're dreaming about? I think this may be the case for Audrey and it all boils down to 'Tina'.
Basically, as we already know, Tina is the one Charlie calls to get information about Billy. So far as we can tell, Charlie and his rotary phone are Audrey's only communication lines into 'the outside world'. Tina seems to be as well. After this ep and the conversation we overheard with the girls at The Roadhouse we know that Tina is the brown-haired girl's mother and she seems to have been having an affair with the aforementioned Billy.
Now, it's totally possible Audrey isn't in a coma, is living sentient in Twin Peaks real time (despite being mysteriously unable to leave her house, call anyone on her own or even move on in time from that particular evening) and happens to be carrying on an affair with the same underwhelming man that Tina is. Totally possible. Would explain Audrey not liking her? I think that was mentioned, maybe?
OR -and here's where I do some big speculation- some of the things we've heard Audrey say, like, "I'm in LOVE with Billy, I'm FUCKING Billy" are things she's been hearing this Tina woman say. Maybe Tina is a nurse or something near her bedside, maybe she's been talking on the phone or with someone else nearby and these things she's saying start factoring into Audrey's coma dream. Tina would therefore be another communication line into waking reality, hence Charlie's calling her.
I also feel like IF this is the case, of her having been in a coma this long, there's some lodge interference going on here, but I don't have enough evidence to corroborate that yet. I also realize Ben Horne specifies that Richard (assuming he's Audrey's son) never had a father, but never says anything about not having a mother which he wouldn't have had if Audrey's been in a coma this long. Of course, it's possible Ben was just zeroing in on the father thing at that particular time, because he feels that would've made a difference in Richard's life. Or maybe he considers Richard as still having 'had' a mother because they technically know who/where she is and maybe never knew who his father was. Honestly couldn't say at this point.
This is all just stuff for you good people to discuss, hash out, disagree with, which ever! Just thought it was an interesting possible parallel!
