Take drone to the US?

Hey there, I will be visiting the US for five weeks and cant decide on whether to bring my drone (DJI P3A with me. Were gonna be heading down the West Coast from San Francisco to San Diego, then inwards until Phoenix and back to SF via the national parks in the area. We will travel with a rental car. I am aware of the FAAs regulations and that I legally cannot fly over the national parks. Sooo...is it worth the hassle (additional luggage)? Thanks for the help!
