Feel detatched from the life i had
Hi Up until recently i was a really motivated person, i have worked hard and im doing a masters degree in chemistry. Over the last 3 years i have started suffering from a health problem which is just getting more intense and lasting longer. I'm suffering from chronic pain. I'm now really struggling with my life. The pain is just about bearable when i do nothing however moving is too painful and i have pretty much avoided leaving my house over the last 6 months. I have started to fail my university degree, however i am still on the course. Doctors have been less than helpful, mostly condescending and assuming i am overreacting to the pain. I am finally seeing a specialist to help me. I was so unhappy thinking about how much this has affected the life i had, i would work really hard and regularly exercise as part of my routine. I can no longer go for long walks or runs. Recently i am so detatched from the person i was. I no longer care about my life and this is the only way that i no longer feel stressed out by my situation. Treating chronic pain is difficult as i have already tried many treatments. Thinking of returning to uni is starting to increase my anxiety, i would think taking a gap year would benefit me, however i cant take a job with any movement and my concentration level has severely decreased. Trying to focus when in pain is difficult and i struggle after 5 minutes. My sleep is a mess, usually i cant sleep until the early hours due to the stress of the situation or the pain. I havent told many people as i dont know how long this will affect me, i dont want to say it wont last long if it will and visa versa. I guess this is more of a release for me to tell someone.
