New and need some help!

Hello so I spent the past day or two doing research and I am confused on the process on how to get into this as a Canadian. I want to get into the altcoins mostly, and I realize that a lot of the altcoins or new ones cannot be purchased through the common exchanges in Canada such as, coinpurse, kraken, Quadriga.

Looking at coinmarketcap.com, while browsing through interesting altcoins I see they can only be traded in exchanges like Bittrex, or YoBit, etc. But some of these exchanges don't deal with Canadians?

How do I go about this being a Canadian where I can get BTC, put it in these exchanges that are not Canadian, and still be able to get out the money for CAD in the future? Do I transfer my BTC from exchange to exchange to after go into alt coins and back into BTC to back into canadian exchange for CAD when I'm done? Or do I setup wallets and transfer from wallet to these American exchanges and back into wallets when I'm done?

Sorry for the noob question.
