Would it be weird to reach out to the families at church whose children I watch and express how much I love their children and how much joy I get from spending time with them?

Advice

I serve in the children's ministry looking after 1-2 year olds. This church is located in my hometown about an hour from where I go to college. This past weekend was my last weekend at this church for a few months because I'm moving back to my college town next weekend.

I've really bonded with several of the kids that I've watched this summer. They bring me so much joy. I've had a great time teaching them, having conversations with them, and watching them get smarter and smarter. I'm genuinely sad about having to leave my little buddies.

Would it be odd to reach out to the parents of the kids that I'm the closest to and express how much joy their child has brought me and how great of a privilege it was to spend time with them? To me, I feel like I'd be thrilled/relieved to know that the person caring for my child adores them as much as I do. Those babies have my heart, and I'm so proud of each one of them for how they've grown over the summer :') I can already tell that my biggest issue in life is going to be trying to convince myself not to adopt more kids than I can handle haha

tl;dr: Is it ok to reach out to the parents of the kids that I've watched at church this summer and express how much I love and have enjoyed caring for their child?
