Issues with my CV1 and extension cable

I'm having issues with my Rift. I got this HDMI extension cable. It is a 10 ft extension. I was having problems getting it to work with my HDMI and display port (with an adapter) on my 980 Ti. I assumed that it was just a bad signal. I then bought this HDMI repeater. Running through the setup shows everything working great. As soon as I put on my headset, I hear the audio, but get no video. Plugging the Rift directly in to the GPU works great. Did I get a bad HDMI cable? I have a friend that bought the same cable, and his works without a repeater.
