What type of Degree do you need to get into Economic Development?

I currently work as an Urban Planner, and as you can imagine, there is a lot of intersection between Economic Development and Planning. Our Economic Development Department does not recruiting and only focuses on incentives so I've gotten some solid exposure to the recruitment side of the house.

I have a Masters in Public Administration, and have been working in Planning for going on 4 years now. From the outside, it would seem that the process of performing Economic Impact Analysis would call for more than just an Urban Planning Degree, but may not be quite as technical as an Applied Economics Masters.

Thanks in advance.
