Xbox player coming across as a complete noob but if you dont ask you dont get ?

Hi guys, I'm getting the game on the 16th, I'm hoping servers hold up so people can play on day one, but who knows lol

I have a few questions that I would appreciate any help answering.

1. On PVE servers there is other players on the map ? But you cannot be killed and your base cannot be destroyed is this correct ?

2. On PVP servers is it common to have you base completely destroyed or do people raid and take your stuff but only do what they need to get in ? Is it easy to destroy someone's base ?

I am pretty much a builder on games like this, I like to create but this can get boring on your own, I want to do PVP but I'm concerned every little bit of building I do will get destroyed constantly, I don't mind people smashing in and raiding, that's the game, I want to do that myself lol.

Very noob questions I know, I'm a senior gamer in my late 30s, I want to play how the game is intended, I never played ARK because it never interested me that much, I've been playing 7 days to die for the past year on Xbox, obviously PvP on that game is rubbish on console, so I just played survival single player and built a lot.
