[Initial Impressions] Quoddy Blucher in Toast Suede
Not sure how to set which picture I want first on the Reddit preview to a better one. Any help is appreciated.
TL;dr: Amazing quality shoe that I fell in love with at first sight. Though pricey, the craftsmanship on these is top notch. My money was well spent.
Intro and Purchasing
Before being introduced to the beauty of goodwearwelted footwear, I had always worn Sperry's in the summer. After I became enthralled with this sub, I learned of Quoddy, a shoemaker that was well-regarded for their Bluchers. I bought a pair in Natural Chromexcel off Grailed about 5 months ago and have been wearing those nearly everyday. I saw Quoddy was having a sale in early June and I knew I had to get another pair, this time to my own specifications. I ordered a pair June 1st and received them August 4th but didn't get to open them until today because I was away. They were a little outside the 4-6 week window it said it'd be in but I was perfectly fine with waiting for them.
Makeup
- Sole type: Red Camp Sole
- Upper: HH Suede / Toast
- Thread: Natural
- Hardware: Gun Metal
- Lace: Rawhide / Chestnut
- Size: 9.5 D
- Lining: Gold Glove Leather
- Special Instructions: Cross-Stitched
As far as sizing goes, Quoddy recommends to size a half size down from your Brannock size. Mine is a 10D so I followed their advice and they fit perfectly. They don't hurt at all and their is still a little room to move my toes and feet.
Aesthetics
I was stunned the second I pulled them out of the shoe bag. They were absolutely gorgeous. The color of the suede is a rich orange and felt amazing to the touch. I couldn't see any flaws on the shoes at all. I had requested them to be cross-stitched and they followed through. Quoddy's craftsmanship on these is top-notch.
Overall
I'm in love with these shoes. Since my first pair, I knew I wanted another one. Quoddy blew me away with these and I know they'll be a regular in my rotation. They are 100% worth the money to me, personally. Thank you for your time!
