"You don't eat anything."
This is less than a story and more of a rant. My mom is obese. But the whole family wants to lose weight for my sisters wedding. Well I'm cutting calories and (when I actually stick to it) eat around 1300 calories. Over the summer I lost 30 pounds (it should've been more but I lost my discipline halfway through the summer), and I plan to lose about 30 more.
My mom on the other hand isn't going to count calories. She's doing fad things like drink X amount of water a day or cut carbs. She's fell victim to MLM's in the past with herbalife and again now with "Essential oils". Supposedly some of these oils will help with weightloss, because of course it will.
I haven't seen any progress with her. She's still as fat as ever. Meanwhile I've been losing weight and I wanted to share that with her and my stepdad.
So I told my stepdad I'm halfway to my goal weight. He's excited for me and asks a couple questions when my mom chimes in "You're losing weight because you're not eating".
I never thought that would bother me as much as it did. It's so dismissive, so condescending, so smug. She can't really believe that, can she? If I had an eating disorder she wouldn't just say leave it at a snide comment like that, right?
I guess that's all that I had to say, it just fucking bothers me.
