Lost markers on Alone Amidst the Stars Quest.

So I started the Alone Amidst the Stars quest, but then traveled around to other systems. So once I tried to get back to it, I found I am no longer able to find the holographic long distance transmitter necessary. I've tried asking directions, scanning systems, finding any kind of structure and nothing works. When selecting the mission to find the path on the galaxy to it, it tells me there's no marker for it. This has also happened on a simple deliver the goods quest.

Bottom line is, is it a glitch? Can I fix it? Or am I doing something wrong?
