Glass Bed Adhesion

I'm currently using a monoprice maker select v2. I just added a glass bed with a thermal gpu pad between it and the bare heated bed. With just the glass my prints fail about 25% of the time. With a light coating of glue stick or hair spray it never fails, but it feels like it's welded and I damage the print trying to take it off with a buildtak spatula. What's the best procedure for a happy medium?
