Leaving Current Employment for Reserves

For anyone knowledgeable, how did you do it? Trying to secure employment before I leave for OCS in January. My recruiter tells me they're obligated by law to hold a spot for you. Any tips?

Is it as simple as, "Hi! I uh, joined the Marines, so I'll be back in a year post training. Right, see you then"
