Time to give DSA a chance?
Sure, the police union episode was sketchy. Sure, their ideology could be farther left. Sure, I too am wary of getting bogged down in committee meetings and bureaucratic nonsense.
But they seem to be the leftist org with the most comprehensive infrastructure in the US, and are shifting leftward. Their membership tripled in the four months after the 2016 election. Some DSA members masked-up in Charolettesvile. Martyr Heather Heyer was marching with DSA folks when they were attacked.
My own radicalization started with socdem beliefs as a stepping-stone. For only $20/year, the chance to potentially begin the radicalization of more folks while further radicalizing the organization as a whole seems like a good deal.
Radical internal caucuses are already forming (http://www.dsa-lsc.org/) (https://dsapraxis.org/). While I understand that internal elections might be waste of momentum or organizing resources, I would much rather compromise with a socdem than a liberal.
Thoughts?
