Going to a dealer to trade my 15 Lancer ES for an ST2, but relatives say Ford sucks, need opinions for 2017

As the title says. I'm trading in my 15 Lancer Es (even sportier) for an ST2, I still owe quite a bit on my lancer, but ford is offering 5k in incentives where I'm located and is paying 8k for my trade in, but that besides the point.

I was wondering if Ford is really as bad as they say. I did a quick google search and the most recent one was from 2008 and 2011 so I'm a little conflicted on what to do.

p.s the relatives I asked are the typical American cars sux, asian cars are best
