How to explain merit based immigration to your left-wing friends...
Immigration is like driving a car. A few people driving a car is not a problem. The same is with immigration, a few people moving from one region to another is not a big deal. When you start to increase the numbers you start to run into problems. With 1,000’s of cars you now need rules to make sure people stay in their lanes and people don’t get into car crashes with each other, the same with immigration. When you start to deal on the scale of millions or billions of people driving cars you start to run into real serious problems. On that scale you have to worry about smog, what’s coming out of the exhaust, pollution, and the effects on our environment. The same is with immigration. Once you have a planet population numbering in the billions and you get into mass migration scales you have to deal with civil wars, ethnic conflicts, destabilization, genocide, colonialism, and demographic replacement. The left will acknowledge that at large scales we start to run into problems with cars but they refuse to acknowledge that at large scales immigration is a problem. The way to fix that problem is to switch to a merit based immigration system.
