FYI -- You Can Make Recommendations to the State's Environmental Justice Work Group
Hey everyone,
The state has established an Environmental Justice Work Group and they're doing listening sessions across the state. The closest one to us was in Detroit, but it already passed. After doing some follow up, I was able to get the worksheet they did. You can make recommendations directly to the governor's panel about how what kind of support we need from government to address the environmental justice issues affecting our communities
Environmental Justice defined:
Defined in Executive Directive 2007-23, “Environmental justice” means the fair, non-discriminatory treatment and meaningful involvement of Michigan residents regarding the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies by this state.
Questions: (please follow this format)
-
What would you like the Environmental Justice Work Group to consider in our recommendations to the Governor?
-
What do you need from your local government to best serve environmental justice issues in your community?
-
What do you need from state government to best serve environmental justice issues in your community?
-
Ideally, what does your vision for environmental justice in Michigan look like to you?

I figure the more suggestions we can send, the better. I don't think a lot of us knew this was going on but I think it's incredibly important for everyone to have their voices heard. This is for Michigan residents only.
