Thank You All For Loving This Story
I am so happy many people love a story about a little girl who is partially deaf and deals with bullying! I'm a guy who is partially deaf and this story has hit very close home to me.
Growing up as a partially deaf individual was hard for me, I felt alone and isolated, a burden to others around me and that I don't deserve happiness. Just like her I lost most of my hearing in my left ear because a bully jerked it out of my left ear and damaged my ear canal. Hearing doctors told me I am probably going to lose the 20% hearing in my right ear that I have left at the age of 40, that is about 7 more years for me.
I was at the center of all the cruelty and jokes of my classmates who bullied me, but I couldn't speak up for myself due to how hard it was for me to speak and have others understand me. If they got in trouble when someone does stand up for me, I get blamed by them and treated like I shouldn't have existed in the first place.
At times I felt like committing suicide, thinking everything would be better for everyone else around me and I wouldn't be holding them back (Being a burden) if I was gone. So seeing people in this movie, seeing what it is like for me growing up during my middle school years and my high school years, even into my adult years gives me comfort that maybe life will not be bad always.
That I might even deserve happinesses in the future and maybe have a family of my own who loves me.
