"Forever Gi Bill" signed. It adds an additional 9 months of benefits for students pursuing STEM degrees that take more than 36 months of instruction to complete (e.g. Med Students)

The Post 9/11 GI Bill is great, it pays full tuition and cost at any public school while providing housing and books allowances, BUT it was designed for a tradition undergrad curriculum with 36 months (4 school years) of instruction.

I, and I assume many other vets using it to pay for medical school, would have used up my benefits before the fall term of 4th year because of no summer break between M2/M3 and M3/M4. The Forever GI Bill now will cover that final semester.

I just wanted people to be aware because the 5th year benefits have a cap and will be offered on a first come first serve basis starting in August 2018.
