NMom wrecked in near fatal accident, made GC bro promise not to tell us

[Trigger Warning]

She's alive. She's even been released.

My narcissistic mother totaled her jeep and her RV home yesterday, in a terrible highway accident. She had to be rushed to a separate hospital because the closest hospital that she originally was taken to didn't have a trauma center. They had to use the jaws of life to get her out of her jeep. She has stitches, several lacerations, but no internal bleeding and no broken bones. It is not yet known if she is at fault for the accident, but I know that she constantly drives well under the influence of illegal drugs, so it will not be any surprise to me if we find out that she is, indeed, responsible.

She told my 19-year-old brother not to tell us. Specifically, she told him not to tell our grandmother. My brother and his girlfriend were over at our grandmother's house last night, after the accident, and he didn't say a word to her about it.

My mother and I have been no contact since May, and she has already had a similar blowout with my grandmother. I have no idea where the hell she is even sleeping right now, and frankly, I don't care. What kind of a person gets into an accident like that, and then forces the teenage child to hide that from his own family? I can't even imagine how difficult a situation this must be for my brother. My brother and I are currently not in contact with one another, because my own mother has warped and twisted our relationship to the point where he believes everything she says, she has been feeding him lies about me his whole life. (We are nearly 20 years apart.)

I have no intention of breaking no contact, but I am struggling with the anger that has surfaced because of all of this. I'm never going to allow this kind of abuse to happen in my family. I never want my son to be put in a situation where he feels like he can't talk about major, traumatic injuries that happened in our family, just because that person is angry at us. Who the fuck does that to their own son?

There will be no secrets in my little family. My son will be raised with boundaries that he is allowed to place. He will be allowed privacy, and trust, and I will never ask him to hide information like this from other people in our extended family. What seriously messed up situation this is.
