Shadow Game + Attack and Receive interaction

Based on the text on the trap, I expected to be able to activate it on damaging myself with the skill, but it seems to not trigger. Do you think that's intended and should it be that way? Just wondering. I can see how it might be too strong in a burn deck, but the text on the trap seems like I should be able to, in my judgement.
