Buying In

Hi everyone. I was just hoping for some advice as I am looking to get some IOTA into my portfolio however there seems to be a lot of people having issues.

1. Bitfinex being the only exchange that offers IOTA at the moment. Is it safe to buy there still or is there any developments coming where IOTA will be available elsewhere soon? Additionally how has it been transacting on Bitfinex? I know a lot of American customers seem to have problems. Assuming I'm not American has your experience been on the level? I've never transacted on Bitfinex but have a valid account but I see a lot of people complaining about transfers in and out.

2. The IOTA wallet itself seems leave people confused or worried as the transactions are getting stuck or slowed. Any advice or known issues surrounding this as well?

I've read the primers and instructions so besides that I'm just wondering if anyone with experience has some sound advice for a first time investor?
