[EVENT] The Emperor Falls Ill
"Angelitha! Bring me my coffee!"
As the servant girl brought in the black beverage and set it on his desk, she saw the Emperor pressing his hand against his forehead in pain.
"Should I..." She hesitated. "Should I get the medicus, Your Majesty?"
The Emperor took a sip, fliched at the bitterness, but proceeded to drink.
"No, I'm fine", he said and went back to his papers. As he lowered his head to look at them, the world suddenly got blurry. Slowly, it shifted to the side and any effort of Vladislav to balance it again failed. The world tipped over, and the servant girl shrieked. A black puddle of coffee formed next to his head, as the bitter smell filled not only his nostrils, but all of his thoughts.
The medicus came rushing in and found the Emperor lying on the floor. He immediately ordered two guards over to carry him to his chambers and lay him in his bed, where a cold compression on his head calmed him down enough to stop the incoherent babbling he had fallen into.
For the next ten days, the Emperor slept. Not contnuously, but beyond eating, drinking and... other business, he did not do anything else than sleeping or appearing to sleep. On the eleventh day, he tried to get up, but the medicus succesfully stopped him.
Since then, Imre Perényi, Regent of Hungary, had taken over the everyday business of government and whenever the Emperor was required, Perényi came to his bed with the paperwork to sign.
Vladislav knew that he would die. The pain in his head did not stop and so far he had prevented his medicus from drilling that hole. He had made sure that Šarlota, the Empress, stayed by his side and that his children returned to Buda as soon as possible.
Vladislav knew that he would die. He prayed a lot in these days, and this time in earnest. Soon he would see the Lord face to face. Maybe then he would finally answer.
