Using smart contracts to link assets to its owners

I dont know how to search info about this, but can it be possible to use the blockchain to save forever the ownership of something like an ebook or a game to someone?

Imagine that Steam suddenly goes offline and you just lost all your games, or Amazon stops working, with the blockchain you will always have access to your things.

is there something like this out there?
