[Mod] SSE or Vanilla? Looking for beautiful sceneries and enhanced gameplay

Hello everyone,

i was wondering if you could help me decide whether to create a build from vanilla Skyrim or SSE.

I would like the game to look photorealistically beautiful, with slightly-better-than-life saturation and better textures and meshes overall - not interested in any of the UNP porn mods or whatever those are. As for gameplay-enhancing mods, I have played Perkus Maximus so far, but I'd also be interested in trying out some other stuff.

Bottom line: Mostly interested in an enhanced vanilla experience, something "immersive" I guess. Would you rather recommend vanilla or SSE Skyrim?
