Classroom/Teacher Twitter Account?

Hey everyone, I'm about to start my first year as a high school math teacher. I will also be involved in some different programs and clubs at the school. I'm considering making a teacher twitter account for myself, where I can post school-related stuff. Obviously no pictures from class, but maybe some student projects (with permission), reminders of events going on at the school or the community, resources that I think people should check out, etc. And then my students and their parents and peers can follow to keep up with some of the stuff going on with the school. I know any connection with students via social media is kind of a sketchy path, what do you all think? Have any of you tried this and, if so, how did it go?
