Complete customizability of the Gen 4 dashboard would be so cool.

I'm well aware of the plethora of liability/regulatory reasons Toyota has no interest or ability to make this happen, but wouldn't it be awesome if custom displays for the dashboard could be loaded into Gen 4 Priuses? It wouldn't be far removed from putting aftermarket dials in a traditional car.

They are just LCDs, after all. A modification of the car's firmware could allow for the background and font of the speedometer to be changed easily, along with displays for the HV indicator and energy monitor.

Hell, more advanced modifications could even allow you to view usage statistics in different ways, depending upon the data available.

I just have an appreciation for tasteful design and the blandness of the current displays irks me a bit. If, in an ideal world, it was an open-source interface the possibilities would be near-limitless. Perhaps one day.
