DBFighterZ Announced a Mode That Should Have Been in MvC3 and STILL Isn't in Infinite (AFAIK)
3v3 multiplayer (online). I don't think they've explicitly stated it's available offline but I can't imagine it won't be. This is a mode that not only should have been available since MVC3, but should DEFINITELY be in INFINITE (in a 2v2 capacity of course) DAY 1 considering how the MVC3 series performed IMO. The fact that Capcom hasn't seemed to consider the marketing potential alone of curating a more traditional fighter to have party game potential like Smash Bros. is remarkably inept to me.
Instead of trying to market the game to/using the FGC, they could just add this common sense functionality that would (likely) add a sizable amount of fun factor to their game and they could package it as a party game like the Smash series. The casual base would eat it up. 4-6 player multiplayer is more than a bullet point, it's a bonafide SELLING POINT.
The casual base doesn't CARE about demos of Combofiend x Yipes playing Jedah - they just want to know the game will have their favorite characters and be potentially fun with friends. Nothing sells that at cons, fighting game events, and in marketing materials to that casual demographic than a chaotic team-based multiplayer mode. The competitive base will be there regardless, because their only care is that the gameplay is competent and will be supported by Capcom in the future (and even that's not necessary).
I'm not the one to continuously rip on Capcom, but their continued lack of imagination here is baffling to me. Again, this is something that should have been a NO BRAINER 6 YEARS AGO - a similar mode was in SFXT(!) - and they're going to let ARCSYS somehow beat them to the punch on this despite the fact that Capcom INVENTED the subgenre!
Capcom, you need to delay this game and ensure 2v2 multiplayer functionality is live day 1. Post-Launch will be too late. MVC3 should have been delayed, UMVC3 should have been delayed, SFV should have been delayed: Infinite needs a delay.
