Question Setter for Studs?

So those cheap little studs that come in shapes like squares, circles, diamonds, and stars, with the little prongs on the back, are there setters or a technique for not bending them?

The circles are easy, I just use a large button setter, and they don't deform. The others though, I seem to smoosh and crush no matter what I do.
