Stat Pay Delay

I am in British Columbia, Canada, and we recently had a stat holiday (August 7th) called B.C. Day. I was supposed to be paid for the day, as is the law, and I am on direct deposit, but my boss let me know that I would have to wait a few days for that money as apparently it was flagged and didn't go through.

Can someone perhaps tell me why this might be? Is there a legitimate, non shady, reason why a persons stat pay wouldn't go through on time? Been working since I was a teenager, and am 34 now, and have never had this happen so I'm a bit suspicious.
