I want to take the vr plunge

VR looks like a lot of fun and i want to get involved. I never followed vr closely and as a result, im kind of overwhelmed. I went the xbox route and i have a laptop. What is the best course of action?? Ps vr? Oculus, htc, vive? What is the cost of building a vr capable pc?
